For the past few months, the coronavirus has caused so much fear all over the world. The cure hasn’t been found yet up to this writing. And the only thing that people can do to keep themselves safe from COVID-19 is to take precautionary measures.
Take note that the virus can be spread from getting in contact with either the mucus and respiratory secretions of infected individuals or contaminated surfaces. This is why you need to keep your hands clean at all times and create a barrier as much as possible.
So when do you really need to wear gloves?
When Disinfecting Your Home
Wearing gloves, either disposable or reusable, when cleaning the different areas of your home is an excellent idea. This helps you avoid directly touching surfaces that may have germs on them. It could also be a protection against the harsh chemicals that the disinfectant that you are utilizing may contain.
Keep in mind, though, that you must still follow precautions when using cleaning solutions. Most of them are too strong, and inhaling them is dangerous. To avoid issues, make sure that you are getting enough ventilation. If the room that you are cleaning has windows, open them up so you can get fresh air.
Once you are done cleaning, take the gloves off and thoroughly wash your hands using soap and water.
When Taking Care of a Sick Individual
If you are looking after a sick family member, putting a pair of gloves on is highly recommended, especially if you are touching materials with blood, urine, stool, mucus, saliva, or vomit. It is crucial that you wear gloves too when cleaning the room where the sick individual is staying at.
As much as possible, wear disposable gloves and dispose of them properly after use. And again, be sure to wash your hands.
Is Wearing Gloves When Going Out Advisable?
Many people use gloves when they go out of their homes, as this provides them with a sense of security. But take note that the coronavirus can survive in latex or fabric. Therefore, it can still be spread.
If you take the gloves off, and you don’t peel them off the right way, it defeats the whole purpose. With this in mind, it is not really necessary to put on a pair of gloves when you go outdoors. The best protection would be to sanitize your hands using alcohol or sanitizer.
